Hot and Not, up and down

The players in these two sections were the statistical leaders during the last week. Batting averages are based on 20 at-bats, and ERA and WHIP on seven innings pitched. In most cases, we eliminate batters with an average lower than .280 and pitchers with ERAs above 4.00 from the Hot list.

RHP Vicente Padilla, Rangers 15.0 0.60 1-0 0.60 5:7

Baker was on the Not list last week. Baker and Sabathia each lost two games last week. And this was one of Greinke’s poorest weeks this season, with his only loss.

Wins – Mets RHPs Livan Hernandez and John Maine, Nationals LHP John Lannan, Tigers RHP Rick Porcello, Angels LHP Joe Saunders and Dodgers LHP Eric Stults 2.

Saves – Angels LHP Brian Fuentes and Mets RHP Francisco Rodriguez 4-for-4; Cubs RHP Kevin Gregg 3-for-3; Reds RHP Francisco Cordero, Rangers RHP Frank Francisco, Braves LHP Mike Gonzalez, Brewers RHP Trevor Hoffman, Red Sox RHP Jonathan Papelbon and Rays RHP Troy Percival. Almost all of this season’s saves leaders have Francisco as their first or last name. And there’s also Cardinals RHP Ryan Franklin near the top of the list. Not

Pos. Player, Team H-AB Avg. HR-RBI SB

1B Adam LaRoche, Pirates 1-25 .040 0-0 0
2B Dan Uggla, Marlins 2-21 .095 0-1 0
OF Brandon Moss, Pirates 2-20 .100 0-1 0
OF Jordan Schaefer, Braves 3-25 .120 0-0 0
OF Bobby Abreu, Angels 3-23 .130 0-0 1

OF Ryan Spilborghs, Rockies 3-20 .150 0-1 1
OF J.D. Drew, Red Sox 3-20 .150 1-3 0

The Pirates’ losing streak should be little surprise when you see two of last week’s three lowest batting averages by Pittsburgh players at power positions. Moss finished the week in an 0-for-14 rut.

This week’s hitless wonders are Tigers C Gerald Laird (0-for-16) and Giants 1B Travis Ishikawa (0-for-10).

Caught stealing – Marlins 3B/2B Emilio Bonifacio 0-for-3; Orioles OF Adam Jones, Reds 2B Brandon Phillips, Indians OF Grady Sizemore and Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki 0-for-2.

Walk/strikeout ratio (10 or more strikeouts) – Rangers 1B/3B Chris Davis 1:12; Rangers OF Nelson Cruz 1:10; Mariners 1B/3B Russell Branyan and Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira 2:10; D-backs 3B Mark Reynolds 3:12; Schaefer and Nationals OF/1B Adam Dunn 4:12; Swisher 5:12; Rays 1B Carlos Pena 5:13.

The pitchers on the next list each made two starts, doubly damaging their fantasy teams.
